Rashi vs Torah

Rashi vs Torah

Rashi – The Hebrew Year is 5782

Ask any rabbi or Jew from any sect or level of observance around the world the Hebrew year and they will tell you it is 5782.  That is about the only thing they agree on, and that consensus may be the unifying factor in the emergence of moshiach, rebuilding the 3rd temple, reinstating the Sanhedrin, and revealing Godliness in the world.

Torah – The Hebrew Year is 6002

Torah says Israel was in Egypt 430 years.  However, our sages calculate the Hebrew year using only 210 years.  They reduced it 220 years because of another verse that seems to conflict.  New understanding of the verse eliminates the conflict.  Therefore, we must acknowledge Israel was in Egypt 430 years precisely as Torah says.  When we add back the 220 years then the Gregorian year 2020 was the Hebrew year 6000.
