I was disappointed when Moshiach wasn’t revealed by Rosh Hashana 2020. My theory of 6000 years was in serious doubt, and the world needed Moshiach more than ever. I had no explanation, but I couldn’t give up on the 430 years. A friend asked, “so where’s Moshiach?” but I did not have a good answer. Then my son, who is in his 2nd year of yeshivah, responded, “Rabbis determine the date.” In other words, rabbinic decree and Jewish tradition going back 2250 years (see above) may be preventing the revelation of Moshiach. If the rabbis say it’s 5780 and Jews have not merited the early coming of Moshiach then he can’t come.
But what if rabbis, Jewish leaders and congregations accepted the new understanding of the date? Would Hashem would be obligated to keep His promise and reveal Moshiach without any further delay. This is a real possibility now more than ever. Can you imagine the Biblical implication of Moshiach, the 3rd Temple, and reinstatement of the Sanhedrin? Not only did we not merit Moshiach’s early arrival, we actually pushed it off. It may be time for some serious teshuvah.
Moreover, Moshiach will arrive when we accept the Torah is correct about Israel living for 430 years in Egypt.
